The exhibition offers three documentary films available for screening during the exhibition, bringing an intimate, personal dimension to the exhibition on the walls and deepening the visitor’s understanding of each artist’s life and practice.

 

PORTRAIT OF IMOGEN

In this very personal film, Imogen Cunningham presents more than 250 of her photographs during archival interviews recorded by her son Rondal Partridge. The inspiration of this film was based on the discovery of these eight hours of audiotapes, found by Meg Partridge in her father's photo workroom. 

 

Portrait of Imogen was directed by Meg Partridge and edited by Claude Ibrahimoff. Released in 1988, it was nominated for an Academy Award in the documentary category.

 

RONDAL PARTRIDGE: Outta My Light!

This short documentary is an intimate look at the daily life of photographer Rondal Partridge, as he works in the darkroom, reviews prints and gives his perspective on photography. Taken over a period of 5 years, it is a personal view into the life of a working photographer. 

 

 

 

Pave it and Paint it green

Directed by Rondal Partridge

30 minutes

 

Rondal set out to record the human impart on a very special place in his life: Yosemite National Park. As early as 1937 he lived in  Yosemite Valley, working as an assistant to Ansel Adams. Never just replicating another photographers' work, Rondal brings his own perspective to the park he knew so well.
